YARMI: an augmented reality musical instrument

Abstract

This paper presents YARMI, an augmented-reality musical instrument in which tracked physical objects become components of a spatial musical interface. Performers create and modify musical structures by arranging and manipulating tangible markers while receiving real-time audiovisual feedback. The instrument investigates the complementarity of physical action, visual representation, and computational sound synthesis.
