Celebra: The art we make and what we do with it

Abstract

This chapter presents Celebra, a large interactive installation and performance instrument composed of two hundred internally illuminated balloons. It examines the work through media appropriation, explicit interaction, site specificity, and the relation between artistic and technological production, arguing that the visible electronics, software, interfaces, and construction processes form part of the artwork’s aesthetic and political proposition.
