Privacy in the Age of Mobile XR

Abstract

This paper examines privacy in mobile extended-reality systems, whose cameras, sensors, spatial maps, and continuous environmental analysis can capture information about both users and bystanders. It discusses how the medium’s capacity to merge physical and computational space creates new forms of observation, inference, and data exposure, and argues that privacy must be treated as a constitutive design problem rather than an afterthought.
