An Agent Can Move and Still Not Be Portable
Abstract
This workshop paper distinguishes movement of an agent's checkpointed state from portability of the external authority on which that state depends. Its source-severance test resumes identical state with the original tool source available or absent. Experiments with LangGraph and PermeantOS examine tool-returned handles and the absence of explicit authority-rebinding obligations, arguing that migration claims should account for continuing dependencies on their sources.
