Musifold

An open-source browser tool for exploring scales, chords, voicings and melodic patterns across Ableton Note and Push-style pad geometries.

Interactive browser tool for musical patterns and pad layouts

Blue root notes and orange chord tones on the pad grid of Ableton Note Helper, the predecessor of Musifold. — Ableton Note Helper, the earlier application from which Musifold developed.

Musifold is a browser-based tool for exploring how the same musical structures appear on different instrument layouts. It presents iPad, iPhone and Ableton Push-style layouts alongside scales, modes, chords, arpeggios, different arrangements of chord tones and jazz phrases.

Users can compare multiple charts, select pads to analyse chords and inversions, and move between instrument layouts. The application runs locally in the browser without an account, analytics or tracking.

It developed from Ableton Note Helper. The related book Piano Without Fear of Black Keys develops these questions through musical exercises.
